It doesn't matter how many resources you may have. If you don't know how to use them, they will not be much help. This is illustrated to the left with the individual attempting to get over a wall with dozens of ladders under his feet. Therapy and counseling are a challenging road. It is not easy. It is work. My goal is to make each session as productive as possible. Of course, every session is a unique moment and each will have its ups and downs. What you get out of your sessions depends on you. I'm up for the challenge. Are you?
I believe in building collaborative, therapeutic relationships with my clients. My "style" is providing a confidential and safe space for clients to explore their most intimate of concerns, troubling behaviors, or to freely express their true selves. I am not here as the expert of your life. Only you can decide what is right for you. I feel personal satisfaction when clients have breakthroughs and make discoveries for themselves, no matter how big or small. When clients gain insight and motivation to change or improve their lives, I know we've done something that can remain with them for the rest of their lives.
I value this work because I learn something new everyday. I also value the therapeutic process and the humanity of my clients. I appreciate the struggle related to processing and coping with feelings. I want to share resources and tools with those who feel overwhelmed, anxious, lost, or who need to express frustration in a healthier and more satisfying way. I value the complexity of each individual and the gifts they bring to therapy. There is nothing more valuable to me than positive and life-long changes that lead to a more fulfilling and productive life.
